yeah they messed the subplot up a lot. In the trial, Alderp is supposed to use his devil Maxwell to manipulate the trial outcome and probably hypnotize Sema as well. However, the anime just made it like Alderp influencing/threatening the jury
They cut out a number of lines from the conversation, effectively removing all the romance flags from the scene. Seems like Volume 5 won’t be included in this season after all.

They probably didn’t think it would matter, seeing as how most LN animes only get two seasons at most, so those plot points will never come up.
The bath scene was executed perfectly. The only thing that was missing was the tattoo reveal on Megumin’s butt.
